Artifact: ITEC 7445 Multimedia Design Project/Webquest
Reflection:
This artifact is an online learning Webquest that was designed and developed during the first semester of the graduate program. The artifact was developed as a Webquest with the help of Weebly to help students get a preview of a science unit in weather. A Webquest is online learning experience where the activities and assignment is mostly done on the internet. The webquest included various practices in instructional design that could help students have a successful online learning experience. The artifact included various online tools and resources that would be great to engage students during this learning experience. The main goal of the artifact was for students to take in the role of a meteorologist and create a one minute video.
This artifact demonstrates the mastery of the standard 3.2 because I was able to choose appropriate digital tools and resources to shape the learning experience for my students. I also took the time to research and explore various digital tools and resources that I felt would make the Webquest more assessible and engaging for the students. The artifact also demonstrates the mastery of the standard because I took the time to understand how each of the digital tools and resources function so that I could help my students during the learning process. This experience helped me manage the digital tools and resources.
This experience taught me how to choose and manage online tools for the multimedia project. I learned that downloading and embedding digital tools and resources into a Webquest can be easy, but very difficult for the students to manage. I also learned the importance of ensuring clear directions and instruction need to be given for the students when completing a Webquest. If I were to do this artifact again, I would simplify my directions and add a page for students to submit their questions, in case I am not available at the time they need me and include any login information required for certain websites. Finally, I would include a list different online tools to use for the finished product in the Webquest which is to submit a one-minute video. A sample of the different online tools on the Webquest would also be included to help the students learn about each of them.
The work that went into creating this artifact impacted the student learning. It provided the students with the most appropriate digital tools for the topic and helped them be engaged through the different medias. This artifact can be assessed by viewing the digital tools and activities used to boost students learning and engagement.
